My heart is always so full
when I read Elder Bryson May’s monthly update.
Even though he lives at home, his missionary experiences are also so
special and amazing to me when I hear them.
We absolutely have a firm testimony of the need for service missionaries
and allow ALL desiring children of God to serve the Lord. We have seen more miracles than we could ever
recount. We love him, and we are oh so
proud of him. Enjoy!!
Hello
Everyone!
Wow
this was a long month. So many wonderful things happened that it's tough just
to remember everything and include it into one report. We had my birthday which
was amazing, there were the joys of Christmas, as well as events that were able
to take place either with Elder Ferrell or with Elder Hayward.
My
birthday was wonderful. I was able to turn 20 and it was incredible. The day
before my birthday at Save the Family, my awesome operations manager got me a
cake with my name on it and got some of the case managers together and they
sang to me and then we all ate cake together. My actual birthday morning I got
to spend with family and then take Dayton to an endowment session together and
then afterwards him and I went to his house and I got to bond and become
friends with all of his siblings while he got ready. Then that night, all of my
missionary friends both released or currently serving took me out to dinner and
then afterwards came to our house for games. This was with Elder Ferrell, Elder
Hayward, Elder Haws and then Brett Zollinger and Jackson Sanders. Dayton and I
were on a team together and because of Dayton and me listening to him, he was
getting every answer correct and he won most of the games that we had played
that night.
Christmas
was truly a blast. We had our delivery days again at Save the Family. It was
way more organized and a lot less rain than last year! There was a ton of stuff
and lot of places to help out nonstop as people were dropping off gifts and we
had to get it ready and organized for the deliveries. I think the air quality
must have been bad that day or something because my asthma was making me
exhausted after only working there for like an hour that day! I went in early
and helped out with the tons of phone calls coming in but it was still a joy to
be a part of.
My
Christmas was awesome too. There were a lot of gifts that I received this year
but I think this year was more of a year for me to give to others rather than
to receive. I was able to get gifts for most of my friends like I got them
pictures and made Elder Hayward his own mission video and then this was the
first year that I was able to give gifts to my parents and my siblings. This
year of Christmas was also awesome because for those of you who still might not
know, my brother, Elder Hayden May, is serving in the Tampa Florida Mission and
it was special because this is the last Skype call that we have to make to him
before he comes home. Not only is it the last one for him but it was the last
one for our family of 5 of Skype calls for missionaries. He has helped me
notice more differences between a proselyting and a service mission and how
they truly are different but they are both united together and help each other
grow stronger just as the Bible and the Book of Mormon do for one another. Yes,
we have completely different missions but because of them both together, they
make each one stronger.
Elder
Ferrell and Elder Hayward are both so awesome. They are both equally so kind to
me and they always invite me and include me in everything they want to do. On
Christmas Eve, Elder Hayward invited me over to his family's house so that we
could all play board games and stuff together and just wanted me to be there
for his game night. On New Year's Eve, Elder Ferrell invited me over to his
aunt's house so that him and I could be together as a companionship but just be
able to have fun together as friends. Him and I were able to participate in a
barbecue as well as just remembering all of his different family members and
such. He knows them, I am still working on it. They are just so truly awesome
and I'm grateful for both of them in my life. They both make me not only want
to be a better missionary but just to be a better friend and person.
I
just truly love my mission. There are days that I may not want to do things
necessarily but it just reminds me how grateful that I am to be a part of this
mission in the first place. This is kind of like a once in a lifetime
opportunity so I just do everything that I can within my abilities while I have
the opportunity to do so. I have done so many incredible things because of my
mission and I am so glad for the journey that I have been able to be a part of.
I am so grateful for everyone at Save the Family that has taught me or laughed
with me, that has helped me grow and become better and I am so grateful for my
family, both my missionary group family like Elder Ferrell, Elder Haws and
Elder Hayward and my actual family as they have helped me up when I may be down
and they are just always there for me either when I need advice or just a funny
joke. They are truly the best and I love them for that. I'm excited to see what
January has in store for me!
Sincerely,
Elder
Bryson May
